Emergency Use of Nursing Students in Avian Flu Pandemic

It was the consensus of the Board that the following statement be disseminated to emergency preparedness agencies as needed:  The Kentucky Board of Nursing supports the use of prelicensure nursing students to help supplement medical activities during a disaster, pandemic or any major event that precipitates medical surge across the state.  Such students may function at the level of their educational preparation and/or as personnel who could be further trained to assist in providing health related services.
