NCLEX Pass Rates by Nursing Program

One step to becoming licensed to practice nursing within the state of Kentucky is to pass the NCLEX (National Council Licensing Examination).

The link below will open a table that lists pass rates categorized by academic year (i.e., July 1- June 30) and reflects the results of all graduates who have taken the NCLEX examination for the first time within the last several years.  This table also includes each program's current approval status for the state.

When examining the report, recognize that pass rate is just one measure of the quality of a nursing program and should not be used as the only criteria in selecting a program of nursing.

Definitions of Program Approval

"Full approval" means a designation granted to a program of nursing that has implemented the approved proposal and which continues to meet standards.

"Conditional approval" means a designation granted to a program of nursing when standards are not met.

"Initial approval" means the designation granted a new program of nursing upon admission of the first class, provided the date of enrollment is within eighteen (18) months after the board approves the proposal.

"Developmental approval" means the designation granted to a proposed program of nursing to continue development of plans for program implementation.
